Halar ECTFE Coating

Halar is actually the name for ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene or ECTFE. It is marketed as Halar by Solvay Solexis. The basic explanation for Halar is that it is a type of plastic. This type of plastic known as Halar is special because it is semi-crystalline and melt-processable. There are additional properties of it that makes it desirable for use as an industrial coating. Halar ECTFE is particularly suitable for use as a coating material for protection and anti-corrosion applications.

HALAR fluropolymer offers excellent chemical resistance and is not affected by aromatic, aliphatic and chlorinated solvents, it also does not react with a base, salt, strong base, salt water, hydraulic fluid, strong acids, strong oxidants, UV light, petroleum, fungus, lube oil, De-ice fluid. It has a little effect on Esters and Key tones.

Halar ECTFE also has useful properties on exposure to cobalt 60 radiation at dosages of 200 megarads. It is one of the best fluropolymer for corrosion resistance.
